Summer Reading BINGO

Summer is not over yet and while you're wrapping it up and preparing for your first big day in 5th grade, see if you can win at BINGO!  I bet you can put an "X" on some of these squares already.  Try to put an "X" on some others before the 6th.

Summer Reading

This summer I committed to reading more adult fiction, which I tend to typically read less of.  I belong to two book clubs: one that I started with my neighbors and one that I belong to with my Sparta teacher/friends. I do my best to do my part in reading for each monthly chat.  Talking about books is one of my all-time favorite things to do.  Conversations about books lead to so many other great discussions I love to be a part of.

I had a hard time knowing the reading of these adult books would be taking me away from the very large pile of young adult literature I would much rather spend my time reading.  They seldom disappoint.

Here is a peek at what I read this summer: (I'm still reading, summer's not over yet!) You can check out each individual post on Instragram for my thoughts about each @hmsroom37.  Be sure to ask your folks for permission and to log on for you.  Remember, 13 is the legal age to open an online account.

Getting Ready

New tile has been installed in our classroom and Room 37 is brighter and cheerier than ever! So....here we are, bare bones.  Little by little, one day at  a time, Room 37 will come to life in preparation for our big day.  There's a LOT of work that goes in to getting our classroom ready.  It's always more than I expect.  This year you can expect to see some band new furniture.  Our adirondack chairs now have side tables for comfort while collaborating, and a new comfy couch is equipped with a functional study table.

Planning

With August here, the beginning of school will soon be here!  Ms. Garagliano and I have been planning away at her home and getting very excited about everything in store for our classes this year.  You can only imagine how excited I was when I was offered an iced cold glass of water in this awesome Hogwarts glass!

Family Vacation

A family wedding brought our family over to Northern Ireland this summer.  This was the first trip for Mr. Caputo and our daughter, Brady.  It was lots of fun to watch them both experience the views for their first time. My mom was born in Ireland, so I've been fortunate to have visited several times.

This is Scrabo Tower, located at the top of Scrabo Hill in the center of my Mom's hometown.  Here is a picture of my favorite person (Mr. Caputo) at my favorite place!
